(06/01/16) REPULSED BY PERSONAL SIN
USUALLY, SIN IS SOOO ACCEPTABLE TO THE SINNER, yet...
The foul mouthed person is offended when filthy language is aimed at them or their loved ones.
The drunk is bothered by drunkenness when the other drunk offends them or harms a loved one.
The conceited, proud, arrogant, selfish person is bothered by self absorption when it is in another person.
The liar is irate when they are deceived by someone else.
The cheat cries, "foul," when someone rips them off.
JESUS SAVES US FROM SIN.
When we trust and submit to Christ as Lord, we become intolerant of sin in our own lives, and, although we hate sin wherever it is found, Christ followers love and have compassion on those who are held in the grip of sin.
JUST THINK WHAT KIND OF A WORLD IT WOULD BE IF EVERYONE WAS RULED BY THE LOVE OF CHRIST.
Most people are glad to see Christian ethics, values being followed, so long as those values and standards are not imposed on themselves.
AND THERE IS THE RUB.
SORROW FOR OUR OWN SINS.
Until we are sorry for our own sins, and until we are repulsed by our own wickedness and disobedience to God, we will cling to our own personal corruption. AND, although sin is a private and personal choice and decision, it has social ramifications and it has an accumulative impact on the world, therefore personal sin is not simply personal or private. First, it offends God, then it corrupts society, beginning with those who are closest to us.
