08/03/16 A HIGHER CALLING

08/03/16 A HIGHER CALLING

I have noticed that it is not unusual for people to be fans, vibrant supporters, active promoters of their chosen teams, political parties, celebrates, artists, performers, activities, food, drink, snuff (in other words, everything and anything, 'snuf said). Of course, this has been true, like, forever.

However, when our likes, preferences, views are not set by Biblical code, Christian commitment, Christ-like compassion, then comes division, sharp division, angry division, destructive division.

Sometimes we can differ without it having moral consequences.
Sometimes our differences open the door to moral dilemmas.
Sometimes our differences deliberately align us with immorality.

Regardless of the level of separation that our likes, preferences or views take us, we should always be guided by God's standards and nature, as they are revealed in the Holy Bible.

There are minor, insignificant, foolish things that separate people because they do not allow the love and compassion to rule them.

There are also major, vital and serious things, which Christians must follow with unwavering loyalty, while still loving those who are in opposition.

We must not laud and applaud people or platforms that stand in opposition to God and His revealed will, though we must live and interact with those who are even enemies of the cross. Regardless of the origin of the following statement, there is truth in it.

In essentials, unity,
In non-essentials, liberty,
In all things, love.

We must never compromise our loyalty to God or His word, and we must never champion evil, and we must always love those who differ from us, whether they do it through ignorance or evil disposition.

This is the age of grace, and it will one day come to a close. Let your light so shine that men shall see your good works and glorify your Father, Who is in heaven.
