07/14/16 AMEN or OH ME?
(I don't expect this to fly, but I still have to try)
REGULAR CHECKUPS?
I am not referring to physical checkups, automotive checkups, financial checkups, background checkups.
AND BY THE WAY, for a thorough and accurate checkup, these areas of concern need expert input.
AND DON'T FORGET, some of these checkups should be scheduled on a regular basis, several times a year.
I AM REFERRING to your spiritual checkup. Do you have a regular, ongoing spiritual checkup with an expert in spiritual issues. Yes, there is such a person. He is a
* God called,
* God gifted,
* God led,
* God filled,
* God centered,
* God anointed man, who is
* God appointed to
WATCH OVER, and GIVE ACCOUNT for your life (He. 13:17).
GOD’S PLAN AND GOD’S MAN
The type of pastor I am referring to is a shepherd and he is enabled by God to intercede, feed and lead in your behalf. He has been given oversight of your life (not as a puppet master, but as a counselor), including your actions, attitudes and associations (family, friends and foes).
Most people dread a scheduled checkup (of any kind) because they anticipate a bad report, which will require costly corrections. THIS IS ALSO TRUE in the spiritual life.
HOWEVER, the old saying is, "pay me now or pay me later." Sometimes, ignoring a problem does not even allow, "pay me later," because there is, "NO LATER."
THINGS TO DO
You should have a pastor that you know is Biblical, in his teaching and in his living.
You should hear and heed his daily teaching and preaching.
You should seek his counsel, when you are faced with questions, obstacles, decisions.
You should set up a scheduled checkup, and follow godly directives, in order to put or keep your life in order.
To refuse Biblical counsel, to shut off Biblical input is to shut the door on God and refuse His grace.
