Here is a great thought for today (everyday). It is not an original thought from me. It is a God thought, and can be found in various forms in the Holy Bible. It is a simple thought, but profound and powerful.
WILL MY NEXT WORDS (OR ACTIONS) WIDEN THE CHASM OF CONFLICT AND CONFUSION OR WILL THEY ENLIGHTEN AND UNIFY?
Sometimes our words and actions, even when guided by love and based on truth and enabled by the Holy Spirit, will not build our relationship with another person. That is because the other person chooses to live in conflict.
I am referring to our normal, daily, simple interaction with other people. For instance, instead of saying, "You don't look as dragged out as usual," it would be better to say, "you are looking especially nice today."
Sometimes it is not simply a mistake in the way we say something, but the fact that we say something in order to get a negative response from someone. Sadly, each time you do that you shove the other person further away from you.
Though there are a great number of passages, which address this issue, let me just share one with you at this time.
Romans 12:18
(18) If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
