If you want to be successful, to be consistent in your Christian walk and your Christian witness, you must be filled, you must be SATURATED with the Holy Spirit and God's word. (You cannot have one without the other).
Ephesians 5:17-19
(17) Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
(18) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
(19) Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Colossians 3:16-17
(16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
(17) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
YOU CHOOSE
You don't get saturated by accident or by default. You can only be filled, saturated by taking definite and deliberate steps. Saturation is the result of constant infilling. God is a constant Source, He is a constant Giver. But we must be constantly receptive, constantly seeking, constantly yielding. This is the thought behind the song, Constantly Abiding.
We need to take advantage of our advantages.
The Holy Spirit actively seeks to make us more than conquerors.
God's word can be hidden in our hearts.
God provides spiritual leadership and counsel through pastoral ministry (preaching, teaching, counsel, writings, recordings).
God provides spiritual support and encouragement through fellowship with other believers.
