If an alien (outer space creature, not a Canadian) dropped in on most people who have gotten saved, the alien would think that being a Christian was a "one and done deal," because most people who have come to salvation, act like salvation is a fire escape instead of a life to be lived and a relationship to be developed.
People are born again, giving them the grace needed to not sin, but then they choose to take a path of little or no resistance to temptation, either because they do not continue to desire a right relationship with God or because they have been misled to believe that there is such a thing as a sinning Christian.
In either case, they do not seek, accept, or yield to Biblical teaching, counsel, rebuke, correction, instruction or reproving. It is as if they have already received all of the enlightenment and grace they will ever need and as if they never need to make changes or grow in spiritual life.
