(5/28/16) THE ANSWER TO SELF DECEPTION

 (5/28/16)
THE ANSWER TO SELF DECEPTION is DIVINE PERCEPTION.

SELF PERCEPTION IS SELF DECEPTION

* Males perceive themselves as females and females perceive themselves as males.
Whites perceive themselves as blacks, or whatever combination you want.
Healthy people perceive themselves as handicapped.
Klutzy people perceive themselves as athletic.
Tone deaf people perceive themselves as musical.
Stupid people perceive themselves as smart.
Attractive people perceive themselves as ugly.
SINNERS PERCEIVE THEMSELVES AS HEAVEN BOUND.

* Some self perceptions are funny.
Some self perceptions are sad.
Some self perceptions are scary.
Some self perceptions are dangerous.
But when an unsaved, ungodly person perceives himself as acceptable to God, it is eternally damning.

* It is not how we perceive ourselves to be, but how God views us, that matters.
Today's society strokes self deception.
God condemns self deception.
The word of God provides the corrective lens through which we need to see ourselves.
We must see ourselves from God’s point of view, or we will be deceived.

THE SOLUTION TO SELF DECEPTION IS DIVINE PERCEPTION.

* The Commands, Commandments, Law, Rule of God Is Good And Holy And Just.
Romans 7:12
(12) Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

The law of God was given as a tool, a teacher to lead us to God and salvation.

The law of God was not intended to be our salvation.

We are saved by faith in Christ death and resurrection.
Galatians 3:24-26
(24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
(25) But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
(26) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

* We Are Not Saved By Keeping The Law, But When We Are Saved We Keep The Moral Law Of God.
1 Timothy 1:5
(5) Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

1 Peter 1:18-25
(18) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
(19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
(20) Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
(21) Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
(22) Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
(23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
(24) For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
(25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

* Three Views Of The Law
Legalism is seeking salvation by keeping the law of God.
Libertinism is claiming salvation, while violating the law of God.
Love is the fulfilling of the law, through saving faith in Christ.

* Christians Are Not "Under The Law," But Neither Are Christians Above The Law Of God.
Christians are "under grace," and grace saves us from breaking the law of God.
Romans 6:1-2
(1) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
(2) God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?Romans 6:14-18
(14) For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
(15) What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
(16) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
(17) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
(18) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

* When Christ Is Lord Of Our Lives, We Are Ruled By...

The Law of Liberty (Ja. 1:25; 2:12).
The Royal Law (Ja. 2:8).
The Law of Love (Ro. 13:8).
The Great Commandment (Mt. 22:36-40).

* Liberty In Christ Is Freedom From Sin, Not Freedom To Sin.
Romans 6:16-22
(16) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
(17) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
(18) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
(19) I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
(20) For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
(21) What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
(22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Romans 8:1-6
(1) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
(3) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
(4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(5) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
