(5/21/16) THE WILL OF GOD (VSS.) by dlg

THE WILL OF GOD (VSS.) by dlg

Consider the things that come to those who follow the will of God.
(I don’t see the downside, y’all).

Let me restate this... WOW, THIS IS AWESOME

Not a single passage that says it is not the will of God to save someone.
Not a single passage that says it is not the will of God to make His people victorious in holiness.
Not a single passage that says it is not His will to deliver His people from all their sins.

The Note has nineteen passages from the New Testament, which are specifically related to the will (decree) of God and the believers ability to either obey or disobey the will of God. These passages include 61 verses.

Let me point out that not one single verse in the New Testament states or implies that it is impossible to do the will of God. Neither is there a single verse that indicates that those who resist the will of God will be saved eternally.

This is not an issue of legalism or works salvation or self justification.
It is a matter of DIVINE DELIVERANCE FROM THE POWER OF DARKNESS, through the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Mark 3:34-35
(34) And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
(35) For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
dlg note... Those who do the will of God are the family of God.

John 1:12-13
(12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
(13) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
dlg note... Those who receive Christ receive the power to become the children of God, which is God’s will.

John 7:15-17
(15) And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
(16) Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
(17) If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
dlg note... Doing the will of God leads to knowing the will of God.

John 9:31
(31) Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
dlg note... Doing the will of God is required for God hearing our prayers.

Romans 8:26-28

(26) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
(27) And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
(28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
dlg note... The Holy Spirit intercedes for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

Romans 12:1-2
(1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
(2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
dlg note... Those who surrender fully to God are able to do the will of God.

2 Corinthians 8:3-5 (ASV)
(3) For according to their power, I bear witness, yea and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,
(4) beseeching us with much entreaty in regard of this grace and the fellowship in the ministering to the saints:
(5) and this, not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God.
dlg note... God wills for us to serve others by first surrendering to God.

Galatians 1:3-4
(3) Grace to you and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ,
(4) who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father:
dlg note... The will of the Father is to deliver us out of this present evil world (present day deliverance).

Ephesians 6:5-8
(5) Servants, be obedient unto them that according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
(6) not in the way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
(7) with good will doing service, as unto the Lord, and not unto men:
(8) knowing that whatsoever good thing each one doeth, the same shall he receive again from the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
dlg note... God expects His children to do His will from the heart, not from legal obligation.
Philippians 2:12-16
(12) So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
(13) for it is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.
(14) Do all things without murmurings and questionings:
(15) that ye may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye are seen as lights in the world,
(16) holding forth the word of life; that I may have whereof to glory in the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain neither labor in vain.
dlg note... When believers do the will of God, it is not simply our best human effort, it is the result of God’s enabling and empowering Holy Spirit.

Colossians 4:12
(12) Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, saluteth you, always striving for you in his prayers, that ye may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.
dlg note... Believers pray for other believers to STAND PERFECT AND FULLY ASSURED IN ALL THE WILL OF GOD.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
(3) For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;
(4) that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
(5) not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;
(6) that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.
(7) For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.
(8) Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.
dlg note... God wills for us to be holy, pure, righteous, sanctified in attitude and actions.

1 Thessalonians 5:14-24
(14) Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
(15) See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
(16) Rejoice evermore.
(17) Pray without ceasing.
(18) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
(19) Quench not the Spirit.
(20) Despise not prophesyings.
(21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
(22) Abstain from all appearance of evil.
(23) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(24) Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
dlg note... A believer’s life of submission to God is manifested in his relationships with other people. God wills for us to be entirely sanctified and God entirely sanctifies the believer who accepts the call of God to holiness of heart and life.

Hebrews 2:3-4
(3) How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
(4) God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
dlg note... God wills for us to have, and to know that we have GREAT SALVATION, and He bears witness to this by signs, wonders, miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit. If people are not expecting and submitting to So Great Salvation, then they should not expect to experience and enjoy Divine power to be displayed in their lives.

Hebrews 10:35-39
(35) Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
(36) For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
(37) For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
(38) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
(39) But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
dlg note... The will of God can be done, must be done, in order to receive the promise of God; but this is only available to those who hold fast to their faith and exercise patience.

1 Peter 3:17-18
(17) For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
(18) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
dlg note... In this world, it is sometimes the will of God that believers go through trials and suffering. Remember, Christ suffered for us in this life. Still, it is better to suffer for doing the will of God than to suffer for not doing the will of God.

1 Peter 4:1-2
(1) Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
(2) That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
dlg note... Believers can have the mind of Christ, which enables and empowers them to be faithful during hard testing and trial. Regardless of how difficult this life becomes, it is the will of God for His children to live in a manner that is pleasing to Him.

2 Peter 1:19-21
(19) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
(20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
(21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
dlg note... Believers have a firm foundation on which to stand: it is the word of God, the revelation of God sent through holy men who were moved by the Holy Spirit, according to the will of God.

1 John 2:15-17
(15) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
(16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
(17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
dlg note... It is the will of God to save forever and to the uttermost, believers who do the will of God.
