(5/23/16) TNH
MAKE PLANS NOW

The Lord willing, next Lord's Day I will preach from Romans 6, concerning the end of the old life and the beginning of the new life. The entire chapter addresses this subject (so it will probably be preached as a short series), and God's deliverance is actually twofold, dealing with "sin" as an action, and "sin" as an attitude.

SINNERS ARE SAVED
from sin (the behavior), when they are born again, and as long as they continue to be born of God.
1 John 3:5-9
(5) And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
(6) Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
(7) Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
(8) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
(9) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1 John 5:18
(18) We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

BELIEVERS ARE SAVED from sin (the nature), when they trust Christ for deliverance from the old man, carnal mind, evil heart of unbelief, double mindedness, and they continue to walk in the light.
2 Corinthians 7:1
(1) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
1 John 1:7
(7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 3:1-3
(1) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
(2) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
(3) And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

I hope you will make plans to join us on Sunday morning as we expose the pollution of the old life, and examine the power of the new life.
