THE NEW VIEW OF SIN
Pretty much (a colloquialism in the place of, "for the most part") sin does not exist in the worldview of modern man. Modern man usually thinks of sin as something that is offensive to him personally or offensive to his chosen value's system.
This is why there is so much actual sin in the world. Actual sin is that which God has declared to be a violation of His will, His law, His authority. Modern man, pretty much, is not offended by that which God declares to be unlawful, therefore it is not awful to modern man until it interferes with his skewed view of right and wrong.
But God has not put His law up for debate or a vote.
God alone decides what is sin and what is not sin.
God alone decides the way of salvation, forgiveness, righteousness.
Isaiah 33:22
(22) For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
Modern man (actually everyone since Adam) has been trying to justify himself and cover over his sin.
But God says...
Isaiah 5:20-21
(20) Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
(21) Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
We will not see ourselves in need of God's salvation until we see ourselves as violators of God's law.
We will not seek God's forgiveness until we see ourselves under God's judgment.
We will not have eternal life until we quit acting as if we are God, and then yield to the true and living God, through faith in Jesus Christ.
Spiritual life (reconciliation with God) only begins when spiritual death (separation from God) comes to an end through surrender to God.
