12/15/16 IN THE BALANCE

12/15/16 IN THE BALANCE

The value of silver and gold and precious stones to a person depends on that person's recognition of the usefulness of the silver or gold or precious stones, whether intrinsic, practical or commercial.

Sometimes the value is present, but the awareness of the value is lacking.

Sometimes earthly concerns obscure the greater value of eternal treasures.

Sometimes people understand the value of eternal treasures, which puts the value of earthly concerns and treasures in perspective.

Proverbs 3:13-15
(13) Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
(14) For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
(15) She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

Proverbs 8:10-14
(10) Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
(11) For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
(12) I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
(13) The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
(14) Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Proverbs 16:16-20
(16) How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
(17) The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
(18) Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
(19) Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
(20) He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.15/16
