PROVIDING FOR THE CHILDREN

PROVIDING FOR THE CHILDREN
Sometimes y'all see or hear me say that I write and do videos for the benefit of my grandchildren. It may sound like I think I am the only pastor who understands the Bible or can teach them the Christian faith.

Well, no, I don't think I am the only one,
BUT I HAVE been around enough to know that it is rare to find preachers who believe in...
* The inspired and infallible word of God,
* The teaching and preaching of heart purity,
* Christian non-violence (not to be confused with pacifism),
* Biblical order of home and church,
* The fact that homosexuality is sinful.

AND it is going to be even rarer to find faithful preachers in the days ahead.
THEREFORE I am trying to leave them a legacy, in the lives of my parishioners, including their parents, and in some form, whether written or video, which will teach them the things they are not ready or able to learn from me at this present time.
AFTER ALL, I am almost 69 years old and I don't have the promise of another breath. Then again, neither does anyone else.
IN FACT, I think it would be a great idea for those who understand these great truths to take steps to communicate them to future believers.

I have been part of 3 denominations (United Methodist, Evangelical Friends and The Wesleyan Church) that were built on the doctrine of heart holiness, and I have seen a turning from that precious truth in each of them. The UMC departed long ago, leaving only a very few faithful adherents. I have also heard the pastors of the most evangelical and Wesleyan, and Arminian and Peace churches boldly assert that they don't believe the founding doctrines of their denominations.

As a side note, if you find yourself in a church that is not teaching the truth about these basic doctrines, I suggest you find a pastor/church that does teach these truths. Your soul and the souls of your family are hanging in the balance.

NOT A PAGE TURNER

NOT A PAGE TURNER
I probably should write a booklet on, PASTOR DAVID'S PRINCIPLES OF PASTORING.

Relax, this is just one principle I have observed and thought about for many years, concerning many different situations and people.

A person who is serious with God does not have to be watched over every step, as if he/she is a baby. I have had the privilege to pastor some believers who were heroes in the faith, because they humbled themselves and followed God faithfully. It is an awesome thing to relate to other believers as fellow champions, warriors, rather than as a baby sitter or constant care giver for the under developed.

Pastors must take care of those in the fold who are the lambs and the injured and sickly. But each one should grow, should become pure, should mature and develop to warrior status.

I had so many in my care who did follow Christ fully that I, "got spoiled." I just expected all believers to either move forward with Christ or the few rebels to move out of the faith and church. Then there came a time when people who could have, people who should have moved further and deeper in Christ and faith, chose not to follow fully.

I believe convicting people of sin is the Holy Spirit's ministry. I try to do my job by preaching, teaching and counseling. However, I got to the point that I just counted on others to be on fire for Christ. When I encountered those who did not move forward, those who allowed negative attitudes to remain, I just kept believing the best. Sadly, I have been disappointed and watched people grow comfortable in their stagnation. Still, I hoped that through my preaching, teaching and counsel, that they would change.

BAD NEWS. Sometimes people will not follow fully. This is where the pastor must be pro active, according to Biblical standards and discipline.
SAD NEWS. Some folks never turn from sin and follow fully, even when lovingly confronted.

When such sin and selfishness brings upheaval to a local church, then discipline may eventuate in Biblical ex-communication. When negativity remains, though subdued and quiet, we cannot yank those tares out, lest we tear out the innocent (little ones) with the older offenders.

However, the pastor must be watchful, courageous and wise. There comes a time when the body must be protected from the wolves. When that happens, the innocent will suffer. But it is the fault of the offender of the faith, not the fault of the defender of the faith.

Love demands patience, grace, kindness. These qualities can be mistaken for weakness or naivete. But for the good of all, including the unrepentant disrupter, there comes a time when the line must be drawn.

Three options for a pastor.
#1 Do not exercise Biblical discipline on offenders, just let it play out.
#2 Rule the flock as an ogre and rip out the innocent with the guilty.
#3 Love the flock, love the disrupter but protect the flock of Christ by lovingly dealing with disrupters. There will still be losses, but hopefully there will be miraculous redemptive reconciliation.

3/20/16 GET MY POINT?

GET MY POINT?
Picture this if you will. It did not actually happen (as far as I know).

Moses had retreated in prayer and meditation after he led millions of escaping slaves through the Red Sea, when suddenly he was whisked away into a time warp and landed in a 21st century American home.

Meanwhile, Elijah was returning to his home, after defeating the false prophets on Mt. Carmel, when a tornado carried him to the same living room as Moses.

At the same time, Peter and Thomas were sitting at a campfire, reflecting on their upper room encounter with the risen Savior, when they were snatched up and deposited in the gathering, with Moses and Elijah.

And finally, John was resting on the beach on Patmos, having just finished writing the last words of the Apocalypse, when he was transported to join the little Bible study group in our story. Needless to say, these men were somewhat amazed.

The teacher began his lesson from Genesis chapter one by pointing out that the creation story is not to be understood literally. He then gave the the scientific explanation of man's origin. He went on to say that the Biblical account of six days of creation was not believable.

At that point our time traveling group stood up as one and started for the door. The study leader asked them where they were going. Although all five of them were eager to respond, Peter blurted out that they did not know what this group was all about, but it had nothing to do with the word of God or the God of the Bible.

As the true Bible scholars stepped into the night, Moses turned to Elijah and said, let's get together again sometime. Elijah agreed, but suggested a mountain setting. Peter, Thomas and John looked quizzically at each other, and Thomas said, "I thought we did that already." John retorted, "Yes, but you were not there, it was Peter, James and I, believe it or not."

note...
(I have recently taught about the importance of believing the Bible, rather than Humanism, Secularism, Modernism, Liberalism, Materialism, Naturalism. I have pointed out that the Bible writers all believed the creation account in Genesis.)

3/19/16 CONTRAST... Works of the Flesh with Fruit of the Spirit

CONTRAST... Works of the Flesh with Fruit of the Spirit

We should trust in Christ, in Christ alone for our salvation and for our joy. No one else can save us, but others can bring us joy. However, when others fail to bring us joy, Jesus never fails.

On the other hand, we should seek to be a blessing to other people.
Galatians 5:13-16
(13) For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
(14) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(15) But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
(16) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Paul continued to point out the spiritual fruit we can bear, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness and self control (the Fruit of the Spirit, Gal. 5:22-23).

After Paul gave us the statement on the Fruit of the Spirit, he added this...
Galatians 5:24-26
(24) Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
(25) If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.
(26) Let’s not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another.

Until we die with Christ, we will be the stench and the threat of death to other people. We see the works of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21) and the fruit of the Spirit manifested in Cain and Abel.

Never under estimate the power of sin or the power of God.

3/19/16

OUR VALUE
Our value is not in who we are or who we were.
Our value is not in what we have done or what we do.
Our value is not in why or how we do it.
Our value is not even in being Christian.
Our value is in Christ.
He is our value.

Therefore it is not me seeking to establish or build my value.
It is simply accepting my value by trusting and receiving and continuing to trust in Christ.
Colossians 1:27-28
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

I cannot add to Christ's value.
I cannot earn God’s approval.
However, since my value has changed (by being in Christ), then who I am has changed, what I do has changed.
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I do the works and will of God, not to attain value.
I do the works and will of God because I now have value.
Galatians 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

HOLY SPIRIT FIRE

HOLY SPIRIT FIRE
When someone shouts, "FIRE," we ought to tell them to relax, we're just passing through.

We should sweep through our society like a raging inferno, and not creep through like a glacier.

Years ago, Elton Trueblood wrote a book entitled, "Incendiary Fellowship." That is what we are when the whole body (at least the major part of the local body) is sold out to God.

When we have Holy Spirit fire, we shine and give warmth like the sun.

I have seen those stage prop fires, that look like fire, but they are just fake. Make sure you have the fullness of the Holy Spirit of God, because He is the fire of God and He wants to ignite others through His people.

Some folks are afraid that they will appear to have wild fire, but they are not bothered by being cold cinders.

FOLLOWING THE LEADING

FOLLOWING THE LEADING OF GOD IS A SPIRITUAL TEST FOR ALL CHRISTIANS. FOLLOWING GOD IN VICTORY IS THE BIBLICAL STANDARD.

Joshua 1:5-9
(5) There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
(6) Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
(7) Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
(8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
(9) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

DLG...
I have spent my life seeking and then following the will of God.
Sometimes it has been easy and sometimes there have been obstacles in the way, but God has led the whole time.
Sometimes people did not understand and sometimes they criticized and ridiculed the path that I followed, but God has never left me nor forsaken me.

It always took place in the natural realm of time, space, economics, culture, but more importantly, it was always an adventure in faith.
God called or led and faith answered.
Problems arose and faith stood firm.
Questions arose, and faith responded.

Wooooo Hooooo, Praise His Name. Great is God's faithfulness and His grace.

Let me encourage you to sing the following songs, as an act of faith and worship to God. Maybe you don't feel comfortable singing out loud around other people. No Problem. Sing it while you are alone with God, that is what I do, and He blesses me with His presence. But pay attention to the words, believe them.

Fanny Crosby wrote these words.
ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOR LEADS ME

#1 All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

#2 All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see;
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.

#3 All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father’s house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way;
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.

And He continues to lead. The words of Joseph H. Gilmore...
HE LEADETH ME

#1 He leadeth me, O blessed thought!
O words with heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’er I be
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

Refrain:
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful foll’wer I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

#2 Sometimes ’mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom,
By waters still, o’er troubled sea,
Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.

Refrain...

#3 Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since ’tis my God that leadeth me.

Refrain...

#4 And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the vict’ry’s won,
E’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

Refrain...

The words of Charles P Jones are an encouragement.
I WILL MAKE THE DARKNESS LIGHT BEFORE THEE

#1 I will make the darkness light before thee,
What is wrong I’ll make it right before thee,
All thy battles I will fight before thee,
And the high place I’ll bring down.

Refrain
When thou walkest by the way I’ll lead thee,
On the fatness of the land I’ll feed thee,
And a mansion in the sky I’ll deed thee,
And the high place I’ll bring down.

#2 With an everlasting love I’ll love thee,
Though with trials deep and sore I’ll prove thee,
But there’s nothing that can hurt or move thee,
And the high place I’ll bring down.

Refrain

#3 Although Satan in his rage would tear thee,
And with all his winning arts would snare thee,
Even down to thine old age I’ll bear thee,
And the high place I’ll bring down.

Refrain

#4 I will make the darkness light before thee,
I will make the crooked straight before thee,
I will spread My wings protecting o’er thee,
And the high place I’ll bring down.

Refrain

THAT'S WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT...

THAT'S WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT...
What we need to see more often is OLD TIME SALVATION.
* I am talking about an awareness of the reality, the presence, the displeasure, the holiness, the judgment of God.
* I am talking about conviction that turns a person inside out and upside down with guilt and remorse, for offending the King of the universe.
* I am talking about the searching of the Holy Spirit that knows no boundaries of time or space and is relentless
* I am talking about sinners realizing that they have offended the almighty, all holy, all loving, all just God of the universe and that they stand in jeopardy of dropping into a devils eternal torment, at that very moment.
* I am talking about a realization that Christ, the holy Son of God, died for them, in order to provide salvation, which results in total trust, love and surrender to God,
* I am talking about a face to face encounter with God and the assurance that Christ died for that person's sins and that Christ rose again from the grave and is willing to forgive and save that sinner from his sins and give him eternal life.
* I am talking about a conversion that sets the sinner free, that makes the sinner into a new creation and ignites a roaring inferno of unquenchable love and devotion.
* I am talking about heart wrenching, soul searching, life changing, sin hating, God fearing and Christ loving transformation that lasts a lifetime.

Little pity pat apologies are not acceptable because they change nobody. Pleasant, dignified religious decisions don't last and they don't shake the foundations of hell.
Modern Christianity is made up of socially acceptable conversions, which don't save anyone.

THINK ABOUT IT

THINK ABOUT IT

Grace is something you, grow in. It is not something you, grow into.

Salvation is something you must enter into suddenly and then you must progress in continuously.

You don't get saved by accident or by Divine fiat. You get saved by invitation from God (He calls you), and by believing His grace and accepting His call, by faith.

Trusting Christ is a crisis experience. It is a life changing moment. It is turning from sin and turning to God.

Total commitment is the same. There comes a moment in time when you (as a Christian) DIE to self and sin. If you have not experienced this you need to. OR IF YOU HAVE NOT CONTINUED IN THIS PATH, then you need to MAKE FULL SURRENDER and return to full salvation.

God not only wants us to walk in newness of life, He wants us to PUT OFF THE GRAVE CLOTHES, because they stink. We ought to give a sweet smelling fragrance of love and joy and purity, not a stench.

REALITY REFRESHER

REALITY REFRESHER
Just a quick reality refresher: it was not the Christian faith that was REFORMED in the 1500's, it was organized religion.

Roman Catholicism had become the predominant religion, claiming to be Christian. The errors of the RCC were so over the top that even priests were ready to return to a more Biblical viewpoint.

Today people say that "Islam needs to be Reformed just as Christianity was." WRONG. Islam needs to be ABANDONED just as Romanism needed to be abandoned.

People do not need man based REFORMATION, they need Divine based TRANSFORMATION through faith in Jesus Christ.

Men are always thinking they can save themselves, but salvation from sin and eternal separation are only possible through miraculous intervention.

Men don't need REFORMATION, they need RECLAMATION, REGENERATION and RESTORATION.

BUNNIES AND EGGS INSTEAD

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO CELEBRATE BUNNIES AND EGGS INSTEAD OF THE VIOLENT DEATH AND GLORIOUS RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

We are approaching that time of year when non-believers feel compelled to attend church (and they are not sure why), and when believers (?) feel compelled to honor pagan fertility gods and goddesses and fertility symbols and rituals (and they don't know why).

Oh well, to each his own.

But at least consider this. Instead of honoring pagan gods, goddesses, symbols and rituals this year, why not celebrate the Resurrection of Christ exclusively?

Don't you think that the greatest event in the history of entire universe (the resurrection of God's Son, Jesus Christ from the dead, for the salvation of lost humanity) is important enough, spectacular enough, significant enough, appealing enough, awe inspiring enough to stand on its own?

Don't you think that God can ignite the hearts of little boys and girls with the celebration of His victory over sin and death, enough, to captivate, enthrall, draw and hold them, without the pagan regalia?

Or do you really think that your children are so intellectually diminished and spiritually bankrupt that God cannot draw them to Himself. Remember, Jesus said that if we would lift Him up, as Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness, He would draw all men to Himself. I don't think Moses celebrated the promised deliverance of God, by displaying pagan symbols and observing pagan rituals. I don't remember the children hunting for eggs, as their parents fell, dying, until they would LOOK AND LIVE.

When it comes to churches not reaching the children with the gospel, not inflaming the hearts and minds of young people with the power of God to save them from all sins, it is not so much that, "they have not, because they ask not," but rather, they don't have children swept into the kingdom of God and delivered from the shackles of sin because those churches are distracting the children with amusements when they need to be alarmingly pointing them to the atonement.

Jesus would not celebrate His resurrection by lifting up fertility symbols. Jesus would not mislead the children with pagan pageantry. Neither should we.

WHAT'S IN COMES OUT

WHAT'S IN COMES OUT

Luke 6:45
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

What you say,
How you say it,
Why you say it,
Reveals who and what you are.

3/16/16 TWO SINS THAT CANNOT BE FORGIVEN

TWO SINS THAT CANNOT BE FORGIVEN

FIRST
BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT

(Don't worry about the rantings of Muslims when they accuse people of blaspheming their god, their founder, their book or their religion. God, the true and living God of the Holy Bible, does not condemned anyone for speaking against false religions. However, the rabid Muslim will kill in the name of his false god.)

We don't hear much about BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT these days, but this is a sin that cannot be forgiven. See what Jesus said.

Matthew 12:31-32
(31) Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
(32) And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

"Blasphemy" is "speaking against." Remember, the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person; He is one of the three Persons in the Triune Godhead. Though there is only one God, God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Let me point out, it is never good to speak against God in any fashion, but there is a reason that speaking against the Holy Spirit is especially dangerous. He is the One who comes to us, enlightens us, convicts us, invites us, and enables us to believe in Christ as Savior. When you cut yourself off from the Holy Spirit, you have cut yourself off from your only connection with God and your only hope for salvation.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not a simple slip of the tongue or even a well intentioned, but errant, comment concerning the doctrine, work or nature of the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a deliberate, proud, antagonistic and impious verbal attack against the Holy Spirit.

HE IS A PERSON
The person who blasphemes the Holy Spirit is the person who has repeatedly resisted, rejected and ridiculed the Holy Spirit. It is the person who has made himself a mortal enemy of God and rebuffs God's Spirit.

All sins are against the Holy Spirit, because all sins are against God and the Holy Spirit is God. However, there are specific sins which are raised against the Holy Spirit, and the committing of these sins against Him lead to the final cutting-off.

#1 Quenching the Holy Spirit
1 Thessalonians 5:19

(19) Quench not the Spirit.
DLG... Quenching the Holy Spirit is to react negatively to the leading, prompting, calling, ministry, work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He is the Fire of God. This can be a seemingly harmless choice that leads to further acts of extinguishing the Fire of God. I have seen lives of Christians with great potential thwarted, ruined by simply quenching the Holy Spirit.
Quenching is basically refusing the work of the Holy Spirit.

#2 Grieving the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 4:30

(30) And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
DLG... Grieving the Holy Spirit is to offend Him, to insult Him. He can be hurt, offended, insulted, dishonored by our words, thoughts and deeds. We know the things that offend Him by understanding Him, as a Person. He is holy, spiritual, wise, gracious, incendiary, eternal, truthful, living, peaceful, unifying, therefore to do anything that opposes these characteristics will offend Him.
Grieving (offending) is basically choosing that which is contrary to the nature and work of the Holy Spirit.

#3 Resisting the Holy Spirit
Acts 7:51

(51) Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
DLG... Resisting the Holy Spirit is to oppose Him, to fall against Him, openly rebel against Him, to attack Him.
Resisting is basically to treat as an enemy.

Be careful from the beginning. Your first steps can determine your ultimate destination.
* Never refuse or demean or take lightly the work of the Holy Spirit in your life, because it can lead to a life that has very little spiritual worth.
* Never do anything that is contrary to the nature, work, will of the Holy Spirit, because the next act of resistance will be easier.
* Never take issue with the Holy Spirit, never question the Holy Spirit, never denounce the Holy Spirit, because your own heart will be hardened, maybe to the point of no return.

SECOND
FAILURE TO REPENT

We must REPENT, turn from, all sin in our lives. Unrepented sin is unforgiven sin. If we do not repent of our sin, God will not unilaterally forgive our sins. Failure to repent is the express route to blasphemy.

Daily walking in the light is required for victorious living and eternal life.

NEVER SAY NO TO GOD.
ALWAYS LIVE IN THE SPIRIT.

3/16/16 HARDENING OF THE HEART LEADS TO HOPELESSNESS

HARDENING OF THE HEART LEADS TO HOPELESSNESS

One of the saddest statements in the Holy Bible.
Proverbs 29,1
1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

This person will not listen to anyone, including God. No matter how destructive and overt their sin may become, they will always justify themselves and condemn others. Their sin will become more vile and vicious and their hardness of heart will become more obvious to others. While they pride themselves in self control, Satan leads them to unspeakable acts of rage, still they will not admit their own sin.

3/15/16 MEN LOVE DARKNESS

MEN LOVE DARKNESS
The world has become soooo immoral and so profanely disgusting and obscenely repugnant that filthy, objectionable conversation is now the new norm. People love the prurient so much that they willfully and eagerly offend and violate the innocent and those who hold to Christ like standards.

John 3:19-21
(19)  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
(20)  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
(21)  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

GOD MAKES THE DARKNESS, LIGHT

GOD MAKES THE DARKNESS, LIGHT
There is nothing in the Biblical account of creation that conflicts with proven facts of science, even when it concerns creation. Some issues are not addressed in the Bible, and therefore might not be knowable, but whatever is true (known or unknown) can never disagree with the Holy Bible, because, IT IS GOD'S WORD. God makes no mistakes, and God knows everything, and God does not lie.

It is the theories of science, not the provable facts, that conflict with the revelation of God. There are things about creation that are unknown and unknowable at this time. These unknown and unknowable issues are dealt with differently by Bible believers and secularists. Bible believers simply trust that "the unknown" is consistent with the nature and revelation of God. Secularists make "the unknown" fit into their view of the known by simply inventing new theories and/or labeling their lack of knowledge "DARK" concepts, such as "DARK ENERGY," "DARK FLOW," and "DARK MATTER."

Bible believers are not resistant to facts, but neither are they suckers for lies. It is acceptable to not know some things. It is acceptable to search for answers to questions. It is not acceptable to contradict God. God (nor His word) has ever been proved wrong, whereas science is constantly correcting its own errors, or hiding their mistakes.

The non believer will always have to come up with DARK answers, because he will not accept the LIGHT OF GOD'S WORD. On the other hand, when a person is willing to trust God with the unknown, then God will MAKE THE DARKNESS BECOME LIGHT.

Trust God and His word and you will never be wrong. Distrust God and His word and you will never be right.

NO PRANK CALLS

NO PRANK CALLS
Of course we realize that there are people (unsupervised children) who make prank calls. But in fact, there are untold numbers of immature and troubled adults who make prank calls. These people are not emotionally stable, they are not kind, they are not acting responsibly. Unsuspecting people are not only interrupted by these disturbed pranksters who choose to not do anything better with ther time than bother unsuspecting victims; they mislead, threaten and falsely promise things. These "pranksters" are using social media for very anti-social activity.

GOD DOES NOT MAKE PRANK CALLS
God does not want anyone to perish, and He therefore calls people to Himself and His salvation, even when He knows they WILL CHOOSE to reject His invitation. But that is their free choice, not God's imposed will. Many are called but few are chosen (Mt. 20:16) is a comment on human will rather than Divine election to damnation. When God calls, it is no joke. When God calls, it is no prank.

God calls us to repentance and to total surrender. Those who freely choose to come to Him by faith, He will in no wise cast out. God sends His children to man the rescue stations and to sound the alarm, and to entreat people to trust an follow Christ. This is what I am doing when I call people to holiness of heart and life, because God says, "without holiness, no man shall see the Lord" (He. 12:14).

YOU ARE EITHER A "LIFE SAVER" OR IN NEED OF SAVING
As I was look at my posts on FB, I realize there are people who are bothered when they see so much emphasis given to the Christian's responsibility to pursue holiness of heart and life.

Then I think, Wow, what must it be like to go to a church, or follow teachers who tell you, "not to pursue holiness of heart and life." How sad for them, since holiness of heart is the reason Jesus was born, lived, taught, sought, died, arose, ascended to heaven, sent the Holy Spirit and intercedes at the right hand of the Father. Love from a pure heart was God's desire for us from the beginning.

As believers, we have been given the ministry of reconciliation (2 Co. 5:18-19). When I call you to repentance and to holiness of heart and life, I am doing it under orders from God, in God's stead (2 Co. 5:20). When God warns, it is not a prank, when God promises, it is not a prank. When I call people to repent or make total commitment, it is not a prank call, because God's call is not a prank call.

CONCERNING LIGHT IN THE CHURCH

CONCERNING LIGHT IN THE CHURCH
* LIGHT is Associated with...
GOD (God is light...1 Jn. 1:5)
JESUS ("I am the light..." Jn. 8:12)
CHRISTIANS ("Ye are the light... " Mt. 5:14)

* In the Biblical Sense, LIGHT is...
Life,

* The Church and Light
A church and a church service should be,
an Amalgamation of light,
a Manifestation of light,
a Celebration of light,
a Declaration of light.

* Light Versus Darkness
Light does not Fear the darkness.
Light does not Feed the darkness.
Light does not Accept the darkness.
Light does not Yield to the darkness.
Light does not Promote darkness.
Light does not Excuse darkness.
Light Conquers darkness.

* Compare Spiritual and Natural Light in Genesis 1

LIGHT is the work, Light is the creation of God.
Genesis 1:3
(3) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

LIGHT is good, LIGHT is separated from darkness.
Genesis 1:4
(4) And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

LIGHT is related to the day, not the night.
Genesis 1:5
(5) And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Light rules; Greater LIGHT rules the day, Lesser LIGHT rules the night.
Genesis 1:16

(16) And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

LIGHT is positioned by God, to shine in the world.
Genesis 1:17
(17) And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

LIGHT is positioned by God, to rule the day and the night, to separate light from darkness. Light is good.
Genesis 1:18
(18) And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

BEING PRODUCES DOING

BEING PRODUCES DOING
Godliness is first of all, what you are, then it is what you do. If you do things that are thought to be godly, but they come from an ungodly disposition, then the "good" that you do is actually evil, because it is an attempt to attain to the likeness of God, without submitting to the rule of God.

In reviewing the the history of God's free willed creatures, from angels to men, we see that this concept is the very root of rebellion and rejection.

FROM A VIDEO I DID
This chart gives the basic timeline of major characters and events, along with an outline.

IT IS BETTER

IT IS BETTER
It is better to be a godly nation than an ungodly nation.
It is better to be a godly community than an ungodly community.
It is better to be a godly church than an ungodly church.
It is better to be a godly family than an ungodly family.
It is better to be a godly person than an ungodly person.

You cannot decide for
Your nation,
Your community,
Your church,
or
Your family,
but you can decide for yourself.
In fact, you are the only one who can decide for you.

You should/can/do decide whether you will be a godly
citizen,
resident,
churchman,
family member,
individual.

You do choose whether to be
light or darkness,
a help or a hindrance,
a blessing or a burden,
a stepping-stone or a stumbling block.

Personal godliness is always the right choice. It is the right choice for your;
Nation,
Community,
Church,
Family
And
Self.

Your choice is personal but it is also influential on your
Family,
Church,
Community,
Nation,
And world.

The only way to be godly is to be a faithful, believing follower of Jesus Christ.

1Timothy 4:8
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

3/12/16 INTRODUCTION TO DASH-CAM VIDEO

INTRODUCTION TO DASH-CAM VIDEO
The end purpose of God's commandment is that believers will have perfect love from a pure heart. The commandment of God not only shows us our sin and our need for a Savior, it is one of the ways God delivers us from sin.

It is not enough that the Bible causes us to see our sin or see the sin of our society. It is not enough that the Bible points us to Christ. We must surrender to the authority of God and allow Him to work in us, that which is pleasing in His sight. It is through the word of God that a young man cleanses his way. It is by the word of God, hidden in our hearts, that we are able to refrain from sinning against God. It is the work of the word of God in us that we are able to love from a pure heart, a good conscience and sincere faith.

1 Timothy 1:5
(5) Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

Psalms 119:9
(9) BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Psalms 119:11
(11) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

LIVING A LIFE ON THE "LEVEL"

LIVING A LIFE ON THE "LEVEL"
A Year Ago I posted that we all need a "level" by which to set our standards, and that level is the Holy Bible.

POSTED BY PASTOR DAVID 3/12/15
Most of the people with a short left leg thought the picture was drooping to the right and most people with a short right leg thought the picture was drooping to the left. Only a few people trusted the picture hanger when he used a "level."

The answer to the human problem is not to be found by human wisdom, neither is the answer in man, himself. The answer is to be found in the "Level" that God provides (which is the Holy Bible).

GOD SAYS
1 Corinthians 1:19-31

(19) For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
(20) Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
(21) For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
(22) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
(23) But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
(24) But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
(25) Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
(26) For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
(27) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
(28) And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
(29) That no flesh should glory in his presence.
(30) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
(31) That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

A COMMENT TODAY
It is not just our view of life, but our living of life, which should be aligned with God and His holy word.

There are plenty of churches that teach what the Bible says, and there are plenty of Christians that know what God requires. The Bible is often used to point out the failure and sin of other individuals and society at large. However, very few understand the power of God's word in their own personal lives, which will deliver them from their own inward corruption and empowers and enables them to live a life that is pleasing in God's sight.

The "level" of God is not just an external witness to the power, pollution and penalty of sin; the Holy Bible gives personal and internal deliverance from the pollution and power of sin, and enables us to live the way we should live.

Seeing the problems of life, seeing the problem of sin, is a first step toward successful Christian living, but being enlightened, led, sanctified, empowered, and enabled by the word of God to live godly in this present evil world is the goal.

3/9/16 DOGMATIC ABOUT TRUTH

DOGMATIC ABOUT TRUTH
Not only do we all have our own understanding and view about issues, we often have different views on how to reach the same objectives.

And i know i can be wrong about political and economic issues. The only time i feel like i can speak with certitude is when it is clearly a Biblical issue.

We can have our opinions about most things, so long as those opinions do not corrupt our attitudes or lead to un-Christ like behavior. But if it is clearly Biblical we can stand bull dogmatic and raise our voices for truth. Even then we should love the people, with whom we disagree.

3/9/16 POLITICS IS NO REASON

POLITICS IS NO REASON TO SIN (but it gets used as an excuse often enough).

POLITICS DOES NOT CHART MORAL DIRECTION.
MORALITY SET POLITICAL SAILS.

3/9/16 BAD FRUIT, BAD TREE

BAD FRUIT, BAD TREE
Trump has exposed his filthy mind, heart and mouth. When confronted about using profane and obscene language, he mocked the confrontation and blamed the questioner with being POLITICALLY CORRECT, and said that Americans are tired of Political Correctness. In other words, Americans (according to Trump) don't want anyone telling them that they can't use filthy language.

A couple of thoughts here.

#1 BHO supporters should not be smug at this point. I remember how Obama joked about mothers, in the crudest of ways, on a Mother's Day.

#2 Trump supporters should realize that Trumps leadership of this country will continue to take us down the toilet. The man is without morals, without conscience, without commitment to anything other than himself. If you did not like BHO did to America, then you are not going to like what Trump will do to America.

AND NO... THIS IS NOT A PROMOTION OF CLINTON OR SANDERS. Trump has the morals of a Liberal. The future of America is really dark right now, and we are not given great choices. But none of these three are even good enough to be considered the Lesser of Two Evils. Clinton, Trump and Sanders are the new Obama, and another nail in the coffin of American freedoms.

3/8/16 FIVE DIVINE DESIGNS

FIVE DIVINE DESIGNS
The truism is, "God does all things well."

Here are five of God's plans that declare the glory of His wisdom and power and love and redemption. I find myself contemplating these great truths on a regular basis.

#1 God's design of the universe, from micro units to macro systems. He arranged the heavens as His message board, and as a dynamic, interactive, and supportive environment for the earth's sustenance and chose the earth to perform His greatest work.

#2 God's plan for the human will, both before and after the fall of Adam; the freedom to choose right or wrong; the ability to resist the will of God without threatening the sovereignty of God; the opportunity and obligation to prepare for eternity.

#3 God's design and plan for human relationships in the family, from husband and wife to tribal; from natural to spiritual; both as individuals and as corporate bodies, sharing in the goals and the glory of God.

#4 God's word; its plan, provision, power and protection; its Divine origin and infallibility revealed through fallible human instrumentality; its cohesiveness despite its diverse history; its depth and simplicity; is eternality and its contemporality; its mystery and its clarity; its history and its prophecy; its unity of purpose and its multifaceted application.

#5
God's plan of salvation; its two sides (Divine and human); its justice and its mercy; its shadows and its substance; its narrowness and its universality; its condemnation and its comfort; its power its pervasiveness.

These five Divine designs are transcendent and immanent; humbling and exalting; inscrutable and inspiring; enigmatic and enlightening.

3/8/16 A NEW BEGINNING

A NEW BEGINNING

Don't miss the opportunities of a NEW BEGINNING.

Even when a past can be characterized as "successful," a new beginning presents new opportunities for even greater successes. How much more of a blessing to have a new beginning if a past is characterized by failure or mediocrity.

A new beginning to succeed requires a clear objective, focus and determination.
It requires launching out into deeper waters.
It requires holding on in the face of the storm.

I have heard it said,
"Well begun is half done."

It takes the greater portion of its fuel for a rocket to just get off the ground. A halfhearted start is the way to disaster.

Whether you are making a move, getting a new job, entering a new relationship, or if it is just a new day and new attitude, GIVE IT YOUR BEST. Give your best to the Master.

Remember, we give, but God gives the increase.

Galatians 6:7-9
(7) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
(8) For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
(9) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

3/8/16 FIRM FOUNDATION ESSENTIAL

FIRM FOUNDATION ESSENTIAL
In every new endeavor, small or great, give your best effort, make sacrifices, because the future of that beginning will stand on the foundation you lay for it.

The best way to live the Christ-life is to be done with the self-life. God's solution to the sin problem is life in Christ and death to sin and self. New birth to the sinner brings life in Christ; total commitment of the believer brings death to sin and self.

3/28/16 THREE CONTINUING CHRISTIAN QUALITIES

THREE CONTINUING CHRISTIAN QUALITIES
The three continuing qualities in the life of believers are,
Hope, Faith and Love.

Hope sees the un-seeable.

Faith secures the unseeable.

Love shows the unseeable.

Hope, Faith and Love are the positive qualities that conquer all negative influences.

When we react to trial, with despair, disinterest and disdain, we are denying hope, faith and love.

The miraculously delivered person is described in James
James 1:2-4
(2) My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
(3) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
(4) But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Living this standard is a matter of being dead to self, regardless of the cost.

3/8/16 THREE THOUGHTS CONCERNING THE CRUSADES

THREE THOUGHTS CONCERNING THE CRUSADES

People erroneously blame Bible believing Christians for the Crusades.

Consider These Thoughts
#1 Bible believers were not the Crusaders.

#2 The Crusaders were reacting to Muslim violence and unspeakable atrocities.

#3 Unless you would rather be living in an Islamic State, you should thank the Crusaders for stopping Islam.

Politically correct "liberals" are now setting the stage for this possibility in America.

Remember, all resistance to Biblical Christianity is the spawn of hell. There are only two sides, Biblical Christianity or the kingdom of darkness.

3/4/16 NOT WIND DRIVEN

NOT WIND DRIVEN
Christian Truth and Trust Don't Change With The Winds Of Public Opinion

Christians do not align themselves with platforms, parties or people who proudly proclaim and promote principles that appear to be Christian, whatever the party.

Christians align themselves with Jesus, and follow Him, and they profess and possess the principles of Christ in their lives, regardless of public opinion or public policy.

Christians do not extol the virtues of a virtuousness, self proclaimed deliverer.

Christians recognize only Christ as worthy of honor, loyalty and trust.

Christ-less leaders and movements do not deliver people.

Christ delivers people without compromising holiness or truths.

MAKE A COVENANT WITH GOD TODAY
(I really hope you will read this passage)

Joshua 24:14-25
(14) Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
(15) And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
(16) And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;
(17) For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
(18) And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.
(19) And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
(20) If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
(21) And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.
(22) And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
(23) Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.
(24) And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
(25) So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

3/4/16 NOTHING NEW

NOTHING NEW
As it was with Obama, so shall it be with Trump.

I warned folks vociferously that Obama was an enemy of Christ and the Church, an enemy of America's founding principles, in fact an enemy of everything that is not Obama. Obama's words, his actions, his history, his associations, his aspirations and his plan for America were obviously anti-American, anti-Christian, yet his followers were undaunted in their support, and have continued to be, regardless of his unchanging commitment to change America for the worse.

The same is happening with Trump. Everything about him cries out, "Danger, Danger," yet his followers are unmoved by his words, his actions, his history, his philosophy of life. Yet, if he becomes President (and don't be surprised if he does, remember Obama pulled it off twice, and Hillary has gotten away with crime after crime, and an open Socialist is running boldly with an impressive following). as I was saying, if Trump becomes President and continues to live and act with arrogance and blatant disregard for honesty, his followers will not see him as dangerous.

Trump is crude and self righteous, and he is getting the blind followship that is making him even more arrogant and dangerous. He has claimed to be a Christian in order to get Christians to vote for him, even though he stands against Christian principles, and EVEN THOUGH HE BOLDLY ASSERTS THAT HE HAS NEVER ASKED GOD TO FORGIVE HIM. What kind of Christian is that??? And what kind of Christian will declare that Trump is a Christian. And, BTW, Trumps actions agree with his lack of verbal contrition and repentance.

Among the multitude of statements Trump has made, his recent comment concerning Romney is very disturbing. (remember, I am not a Romney spokes person). Trump says that when Romney sought Trump's support and money, he (Trump) could have told Romney to get on his knees, and he would have. Regardless of whether that is accurate or not, the story tells more about Trump than about Romney. The story tells us that either way America goes, Clinton or Trump, it will be more of an anti-Christ spirit leading America.

But, my words will fall dead, just as they did when America voted Obama into office, and his followers still think he is a hero.

3/2/16 DON'T LET THE TIDES OF POLITICS MOVE YOU

DON'T LET THE TIDES OF POLITICS MOVE YOU

People have their own reasons for choosing a President. Sometimes different people choose different candidates for the same reasons. People with the same standards may vote for different people. I understand that. It is even reasonable that those people speak passionately against the same candidate. Christians may differ in their understanding about some things, but there is no room to differ concerning Biblical truths and qualities.

While most Christians realize that this is a vote for President and not a vote for Christians, Trump and the media have tried to make it a vote for a Christian. I believe some Christians are too protective of their political choices and they are confusing the political with the spiritual and Biblical. Even if we support a candidate for office, it does not mean that we should put our spiritual or Biblical or Christian approval on his/her life.

The media, at large, has presented Trump as a Christian and it has promoted the idea that the Evangelicals are supporting Trump. TRUMP is not a Christian. There are some people who are considered to be Evangelical (whatever that means in today's jargon, along with "Christian" and "Born Again" or "Bible Believing") leaders, who endorse Trump as a candidate, BUT THEY DO NOT DENOUNCE HIS ANTI-CHRISTIAN STANDARDS AND BELIEFS. This implies to other people that Evangelicals (Bible believing, Christ following people) consider Trump to be a Christian. This is a Satanic ploy to slander the Name of Christ and undermine the Christian witness.

Along with this, Christians have been led into the verbal attacks which are based in deceit and slander and malice. No one has a right to do these things, whether a Trump or an actual Christian, if there is one running. Certainly, we as the citizenry should not follow any politician into the mud pit.

3/1/16 HUMANISM IS IDOLATRY

HUMANISM IS IDOLATRY
To accept the words of a self styled intellectual over the words of God in the Bible, is to worship at the shrine of Satan. Remember, Satan offered supernatural knowledge. Knowledge is not the enemy of God, but "knowledge" aside from the Lordship of God is the enemy of God.

Secular humanism is the religion of pseudo-intellectuals. Our nation is in this mess because men and women entered the humanistic temples of darkness and communed together on the dead, rotting body of worldly wisdom. They have followed their dark masters in resisting and rejecting the true and living God.

3/1/16 MAKING DREAMS COME TRUE

MAKING DREAMS COME TRUE
I am continuing to dream new dreams and I am seeking to have God's vision. I hope to make my last days (however many there will be) my best days. I have learned a lot, and I hope to utilize that knowledge. I will appear as a dreamer or a Pollyanna, with my head in the clouds. (this is the day for being in the cloud, isn't it?) But my feet are on the Rock. Sailing into new waters can either be BRAVADO (faking it and trusting the flesh) or BIBLICAL BRAVERY (following Christ by faith and the indwelling Spirit of God).

GOD TOLD JOSHUA

2/29/16 HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE.

HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE.

When I play Pball, and I make a bad shot, it us not unusual to hear me grunt, or chide myself (like, David, David, David). Sadly, I do this a lot.

Anyway, the reason I respond like that is because I THINK I SHOULD HAVE MADE THE SHOT. I have high expectations for myself. I do not lack confidence (though skill is another thing). It is not that I have unfounded expectations. I am fairly good at what I do. When I play someone who simply overpowers me I don't get down on myself, because I cannot help that I am outclassed. But when I fail to do that which I know I can do, then I am bothered. BTW I do not get bothered with others.

In the spiritual life we should be expecting ourselves to give our best. I am not talking about legalism or works salvation. I am talking about reasonable service, total effort, faithful obedience. We need to examine ourselves, not only to see if we are living up to our full potential, but to see if we are in the faith or have become reprobates.

BTW, there is no point in examining ourselves to see if we are in the faith, if being in the faith is a unilateral, unconditional, "sovereign" decision of God, rather than a free will, faith choice that we make, in response to the call of God.

2/27/16 QUICKLY NOW, MAKE SURE

QUICKLY NOW, MAKE SURE

It is worth thinking about today. Our lives hang by a thread... a fine thread... a worn thread.

Not only are we a breath away from death, we are just a moment away from being separated from the ones we love, maybe forever.

Make sure that you invest your best in those you love. After the curtain drops, it is too late to give them your love.

I am constantly amazed at the people who allow their own drama and pride and selfishness to separate them from the people who love them and accept them, time and time again. Don't be like that person.

2/27/16 SOME FOLKS DON'T UNDERSTAND

SOME FOLKS DON'T UNDERSTAND
Years ago I was present at a local store in Morehead City. They were selling everything, preparing to move to a new location.

As I talked to another person and I told him that I was a pastor, he became very interested. He pointed out that if I would let him use our church building one night a week for BINGO then our church would get a percentage (he was a Catholic, and they believe in gambling in the church).

When he told me how much we would get, I excitedly said that if we also would sell booze and offer prostitutes we could really rake in the dough.

He was taken aback. Then I explained that if we were going to make money for the church by promoting sin, then why not go for the big bucks.

2/27/16 IF YOUR JESUS DOES NOT CLEANSE FROM ALL SIN, IN THIS PRESENT EVIL WORLD, THEN YOU HAVE THE WRONG JESUS.

IF YOUR JESUS DOES NOT CLEANSE FROM ALL SIN, IN THIS PRESENT EVIL WORLD, THEN YOU HAVE THE WRONG JESUS.

Jesus does not cleanse from a little sin,
some sin,
a lot of sin or
most sin.

He cleanses from ALL SIN.

But, He only cleanses those who walk in the like as He is in the light.

Walking in the light is walking by faith.

Walk
1 John 1:7
(7)  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Confess
1 John 1:9
(9)  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2/27/16 WHA-CHA-WANT

WHA-CHA-WANT
If we want to be
forgiven by God,
but
not transformed from darkness to light,
not  delivered from disobedience to obedience,
not created in righteousness and true holiness,
not conformed to the image of Jesus,
not made pure, even as Jesus is pure,
Then we don't want salvation, we want cheap forgive-ism.

2/26/16 False gods

False gods
It is one thing to support a person, candidate, nominee, leader, but it is idolatry to see that individual as perfect, as flawless, as above reproach, as excusable for their sins and arrogance and viciousness. Hero worship is childish and dangerous. Remember Hitler? Americans are equal opportunity idolators: consider the disaster twins, Obama and Trump.

No candidate is perfect but there is something vitally wrong with the people who hold those leaders above criticism and something destructively wrong with those leaders who think they are worthy of such blind followship.

2/25/16 IF YOU ARE NOT EXCITED, YOU MUST BE EXPIRED

IF YOU ARE NOT EXCITED, YOU MUST BE EXPIRED
To be honest (which is not really a strain) I am excited about my ministry life. Not just the possibilities of the next leg of the journey, but the life of ministry I have at the present time.
The needs are great,
the opposition is massive,
the rejection is formidable,
BUT
the grace of God,
the power of God,
the message of God
IS GREATER than all of the obstacles I encounter.

There are sooooo many tools to use, but as Jesus said, the laborers are few. God chooses to use us to do His bidding in this world. Consider these verses.

Laborers Are Few
Matthew 9:36-38

(36) But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
(37) Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
(38) Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

God's Great Power In His Vessels
2 Corinthians 4:1-11

(1) Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we faint not:
(2) but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
(3) And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish:
(4) in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.
(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.
(6) Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
(7) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves;
(8) we are pressed on every side, yet not straitened; perplexed, yet not unto despair;
(9) pursued, yet not forsaken; smitten down, yet not destroyed;
(10) always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body.
(11) For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

We Speak For God
2 Corinthians 5:18-20

(18) But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation;
(19) namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation.
(20) We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

THE SON OF GOD GOES FORTH TO WAR
Reginald Heber (Anglican minister)
1812
(to follow in His train is follow in His path, steps)
1
The Son of God goes forth to war,
A kingly crown to gain;
His blood-red banner streams afar:
Who follows in His train?
Who best can drink his cup of woe,
Triumphant over pain,
Who patient bears his cross below,
He follows in His train.
2
The martyr first, whose eagle eye
Could pierce beyond the grave,
Who saw his Master in the sky,
And called to Him to save:
Like Him, with pardon on his tongue,
In midst of mortal pain,
He prayed for them that did the wrong:
Who follows in his train?
3
A glorious band, the chosen few
On whom the Spirit came,
Twelve valiant saints, their hope they knew,
And mocked the cross and flame.
They met the tyrant’s brandished steel,
The lion’s gory mane,
They bowed their necks, the death to feel:
Who follows in their train?
4
A noble army, men and boys,
The matron and the maid,
Around the Savior’s throne rejoice,
In robes of light arrayed.
They climbed by strength divine from heaven,
Through peril, toil, and pain:
O God, to us may grace be given
To follow in their train.

Called To Follow In His Steps
1 Peter 2:19-23

(19) For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
(20) For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
(21) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
(22) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
(23) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

2/25/16 GIVE HIM YOUR BEST, YOUR FIRST, YOUR ALL

GIVE HIM YOUR BEST, YOUR FIRST, YOUR ALL

Do you give Him your best?
Or, after your fun,
Do you give Him the rest?

Do you give Him your first?
Or, when you are done,
Is He left with the worst?

Let's give Him our all.
He gave us His Son.
So say, "Yes," to His call.

2/24/16 IT IS EASIER TO GET INTO A RUT THAN TO GET OUT OF ONE

IT IS EASIER TO GET INTO A RUT THAN TO GET OUT OF ONE
In fact, the longer you are in a rut, the harder it is to get out.
Sometimes it requires another person's help to get out of a rut.
It is possible that we can stay in a rut so long that we cannot get out of the rut, even with someone's help.

Someone has said that a rut is a grave with both ends knocked out of it.

2/24/16 COMMANDOS FOR GOD

COMMANDOS FOR GOD
Hogan's Heroes, The Magnificent Seven, Kelly's Heroes, The Dirty Dozen, The Guns of Navarone and Mission Impossible are stories that join people with various skills, to accomplish special missions.

I have had the privilege to pastor (occasionally) very effective churches of varying sizes. While churches are like military installations, church planting teams are more like a commando unit. These teams should be comprised of people with a variety gifts and abilities. These teams also need to be self motivated and loyal to the mission and their leader.

As a church planter, I know the importance of a committed and cohesive unit. Anything less is doomed for failure. As a pastor, there are many times that I would have loved to have had co-workers that I could call and count on.

As I launch into a new adventure, pray for me to understand God's leading, experience God's power, and execute God's will. Also pray for a team that is of one mind.

2/24/16

GOOD PRINCIPLES... WHOEVER AND WHEREVER YOU ARE.

I am not big on using fad phrases. When I refer to my co-workers in the gospel, my congregation, my fellow travelers in life, I do not refer to them as MY POSSE. I even have a hard time using "in house" terminology, such as, "my followers." But sometimes those terms communicate insight.

I was always a "lone ranger" (without Tonto) or "lone wolf" as a young person and as a young minister of the gospel. All I needed was God. There is truth in this concept. But as a pastor I realized that my mission was to shepherd others, equip others, lead others, empower others. I realized that a group can accomplish more than an individual. I realized my job was to manage the church of God.

God blessed me with many friends, co-laborers, church folks who accomplished great things. I focused on getting things done through other people, and we became a mighty marching army. However, if the workers are few and the enthusiasm and vision is weak or absent, then the mission of God does not move forward, the darkness is not dissipated by the soldiers of light. A leader of men needs other people, in order to accomplish his mission. I admit that having Tonto (or R2D2) is a real benefit. When the work force is thin or non existent, we may have to call up the "lone wolf" identity, but let's hope not.

There are things that I would really like to do, like to accomplish, like to begin, but, as they say, it takes two to tango. God's word says,
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
(9) Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
(10) For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
(11) Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
(12) And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

It is good to have a team of players, each with his/her own skills. It is good to be able to turn quickly and deploy comrades. It is good to be a body of believers that work in concert, under spiritual direction/leadership.

God's plan is not "lone wolfing."
God gave a helpmeet to Adam.
God gave a family to Adam and Eve.
God gave gave a tribe to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
God gave the Church to Christ.

If we fail to be the individual God wants us to be, if we fail to be the army of God, the lost are left in bondage.

We need a vision for the Church, we need a vision for our church, we need a vision for ourselves in the church. We can be saved, regardless of others, we can be victorious regardless of others, we can be faithful, regardless of others. But we need others in order to accomplish the mission. I need my posse to get my job done. I need Tonto and R2D2 in order to run a rescue mission for those who are being held captive by darkness.

Yes, my help is in the Lord, but God's plan is for a body of believers working together.

2/23/16 GETTING GOD'S LEADING

GETTING GOD'S LEADING
Although it is a different context, James said, "you have not because you ask not." Though it was a different context, the principle is applicable to other areas of the Christian life.

For instance, Christians do not always have clear leading and solid understanding concerning the way they should lead their lives.

THEY HAVE NOT BECAUSE THEY ASK NOT. And there is a reason they don't ask. THEY DON'T WANT TO KNOW.

Some might say, "but I don't know how to discern the will of God," or "I I don't know enough about the Bible to make wiser decisions."

COP OUT. God has given you a pastor that knows the word of God, understands the principles of godly living, prays for you constantly, desires your spiritual success. All you have to do is ask him. He is God's appointed shepherd to minister to you. Still...

YOU HAVE NOT BECAUSE YOU ASK NOT.

Don't make your pastor approach you with the message of God. Seek out God's will and your pastor's counsel on your own. It is bad when he has to come to you. It indicates that you have gone far too long and you are about to make a major mistake.

Hebrews 13:17
(17) Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

2/23/16 FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS DISAPPEARING IN AMERICA

FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS DISAPPEARING IN AMERICA
I don't think most Americans appreciate "Freedom of Speech." I am not referring to the ABUSE or MISUSE of free speech, in the form of libel, slander, obscenity, profanity, defamation, political correctness, double speak or revisionism.

Most (if not all) the countries of the world are very careful about the things they say. This is not because of a high moral standard, but because there are societal, religious, political, cultural guidelines that folks are afraid to cross. Do not confuse the destructive repercussions of oppressive rule with self imposed standards of dignity and decorum and compassion.

We, as a society and nation, have been moving toward controlled speech recently. We refer to it as "politically correct speech." But this oppression of speech is also being used to change history, redefine religions, raise prejudices against certain groups. This is seen in the attacks and false accusations and forced removal of Southern heritage, history and culture (not to be confused with racism and slavery, which were ugly parts of the history of The United States of America, and the rest of the known world), and the defamation of the entire southern region of our country. This has opened the door for the same kind of verbal and legal and societal attacks on Christianity.

Liberals (as seen in BHO) champion the failed political, economic, religious, philosophical and social leanings of the rest of the world, and they want America to be like those countries (go figure). This begins with speech that promotes deceit and forbids truth. The rest of the world has a head start, but Liberal America is quickly getting in step.

2/22/16 NOT DEBATABLE, NOT NEGOTIABLE, NOT UNATTAINABLE

NOT DEBATABLE, NOT NEGOTIABLE, NOT UNATTAINABLE

John 13:34-35
(34) A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
(35) By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Sadly, in most people who claim the name of Christ,
NOT APPLICABLE.

We choose to either be the channels of pure love or not.

When we let God do the miracle, then we will enter into His presence with singing and serve the Lord with gladness, in the beauty of holiness. Because,

Romans 13:10
(10) Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love is not just a word, it is a relationship, a life, a family trait in the family of God.

1 John 4:20-21
(20) If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
(21) And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

2/21/16 I WAS SPOILED

I WAS SPOILED
(In the colloquial sense of the word)

I was spoiled, not as a child, although there are folks who hold a different view on this. I was spoiled as a minister of the gospel. The spoiling I experienced was not God lavishing me with trinkets and toys, though He has lavished me with love, blessings and privileges. But those are not the things that spoiled me. I was spoiled in my ministry in many ways, but let me just give you one example from my pastoral experience.

I had a mixed bag in my first pastoral position. I had a two point charge. Both churches had some good people in them but one of the churches was overloaded with some really mean spirited unconverted sinners. However, they are not the ones who dominate my memories of that year. Instead, it was the loving people, and especially the loving young adults of the other church. Among the special gems in that church there was one that opened her heart and her home and family to me and Martha. This dear sister has continued to bear fruit for her faithfulness, through her children and her ministry legacy, beyond the years of her life. Through the years we have been blessed with others, who made difficult situations more tolerable and have contributed to our growth and productivity.

However, as the years went by, God poured out abundant grace and gave immeasurable increase for the labor. I pastored a church in Ohio that became a miracle and an amazement. I won't go into the details, but the youth program, the foreign missions program, the ministry training program, the stewardship program, the evangelism program, all burst into an incendiary fellowship. We were a present day example of the book of Acts.

Again, in a church plant and ministry training program in North Carolina I was privileged to pastor a church that was so filled with love, with mutual concern, with New Testament zeal and sacrifice that it changed lives and set the standard for churchmanship at a very high level. That church at that time has been referred to as being, "like a dream."

I was spoiled because bearing fruit for Christ in those situations seemed to be as easy as breathing.

Life changed, ministry changed as our society moved from the "Open Door" ministry of a "Philadelphian" model to the closed door, Laodicean model. I have continued to preach and teach and counsel and lead in the same Biblical pathway, but the response of people changed, both in the wold and in the church. The lukewarm, self centered, haughty, self reliant, wretched, poor and blind traits of society were moving quickly into the end times churches. "Emergent" religion has flooded into evangelical churches, and today the word "evangelical" has no real Bible believing significance.

Today (generally speaking), conversions are fewer, less dramatic, less definitive, less consuming.
Also (generally speaking), the depth of discipleship, the breadth of vision, the extent of love, commitment, surrender in the church is not as world shaking or as obviously all consuming as in the past.
People tend to think that doing their best is all that can be expected, rather than allowing God to do the impossible through them.
People do not want to be accountable to the church, to the pastor, to the word of God, for their personal lives.
Resistance to the purifying fullness of the Holy Spirit is at an all time high, at least from my observation.

I was spoiled. I saw the power of God do miracles, set hearts afire, break down the walls of hell, consume sin and ignite a spiritual inferno within the breast of individual believers and within the community of the redeemed.
I have seen what a church is supposed to look like, and I always knew it was the supernatural work of God.
I have seen churches moving like a mighty, marching army.
I have seen ministries moving like fine machinery.
I have seen congregations that loved one another, as Christ loved them.
I have seen sinners ashamed to play church.
I could go on and on.

I am not saying that the day of seeing these things is over. I am saying that it is less likely to happen in this Laodicean world, in which we live. I am saying that the deceitfulness of sin and self orientation of most church folks robs God of His glory (for the time being) and they also rob themselves and the needy world around them, of God's salvation.

Although I see the church becoming less dynamic, I believe that God will still raise up a mighty marching army, when total surrender and absolute trust is rendered to Jesus Christ.

(read carefully these words concerning the end times Church).

Revelation 3:14-20 (WEB)
(14) “To the angel of the assembly in Laodicea write: “The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of God’s creation, says these things:
(15) “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.
(16) So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.
(17) Because you say, ‘I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing;’ and don’t know that you are the wretched one, miserable, poor, blind, and naked;
(18) I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.
(19) As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent.
(20) Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.

2/15/16 THE CHRISTIAN EXCEPTION?

THE CHRISTIAN EXCEPTION?
Those who are winners at heart (not to be confused with simply being competitive), are able to lead and to follow. In fact, they probably do not get to be good leaders until they learn to be good followers.

When a player becomes part of a team, he should become subject to the higher powers of the team (whether in sports, music, business, medicine, government, academics, civil order or warfare). In all spheres of life there are teachers, coaches, mentors, trainers. Even the more talented players need to get instruction from another person. We see this in sports, with specialized coaching for hitting, pitching, passing, running, blocking.

How interesting that Christians seem to think that just because they have been saved that...
they do not need to come under authority,
they do not need to follow instruction,
they do not need to accept counsel.

How interesting that people will submit to other people, or they will follow and study the instruction of successful people in a wide range of disciplines, but Christians don't follow our submit, or they don't want to accept leadership and instruction concerning behavior, relationships, management of time or talent or treasure. It is sin when Christians do not yield to God's appointed leaders.

This is one reason we see the organizations of the world succeed in their endeavors, while the Church stumbles along and withers away.
Cheap grace has replaced Biblical discipleship.
Each man doing what is right in his own sight.
Believers not believing that they need to sacrificially and humbly follow and grow and change.

Ok, the fact is, Christians, real Christians, growing Christians, exemplary Christians are the most humble, submissive, condescending, self effacing and obedient people in the world. If you are not excelling in the "following" category, you are not going to excel in the "succeeding" category.

Ephesians 5:21
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Hebrews 13:7
(7) Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

Hebrews 13:17
(17) Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Release the grip on your own will eagerly.
Take hold of God's will violently.
Submit to spiritual authority adamantly.
