3/19/16 CONTRAST... Works of the Flesh with Fruit of the Spirit

CONTRAST... Works of the Flesh with Fruit of the Spirit

We should trust in Christ, in Christ alone for our salvation and for our joy. No one else can save us, but others can bring us joy. However, when others fail to bring us joy, Jesus never fails.

On the other hand, we should seek to be a blessing to other people.
Galatians 5:13-16
(13) For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
(14) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(15) But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
(16) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Paul continued to point out the spiritual fruit we can bear, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness and self control (the Fruit of the Spirit, Gal. 5:22-23).

After Paul gave us the statement on the Fruit of the Spirit, he added this...
Galatians 5:24-26
(24) Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
(25) If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.
(26) Let’s not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another.

Until we die with Christ, we will be the stench and the threat of death to other people. We see the works of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21) and the fruit of the Spirit manifested in Cain and Abel.

Never under estimate the power of sin or the power of God.
